Danny McCarthy

Danny McCarthy has exhibited and performed widely in Europe, USA, Canada, China, Japan, Poland and several other countries. He is a founder director of Triskel Arts Centre and the NSF (National Sculpture Factory). McCarthy’s work is in the National Collection of Ireland.  An installation “LUSITANIA (re)CALLING” was presented in Sirius Arts Centre Cobh to co-inside with the centenary of the sinking of the ship in May 1915. A special limited edition 10” vinyl was also released on Farpoint Recordings to mark the occasion.

In January 2016 the artist was invited to spend a residency in the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation in Captiva Florida. This is one of the most prestigious residencies in the world and is by invitation only. This resulted in an exhibition/sound installation in the Commonwealth University Of Virginia and also in the Rauschenberg Foundation Galleries in Captiva Florida.   A new CD “Where The Quiet Crow Flies” by The Quiet Club and crow has been released on the Farpoint Recordings label.  The artist presented work for a show “(Re)writing (HI)story ( A Sonic Opera)” (Installation and collages) in Triskel Arts Centre,  A performance art piece in “Future Histories” in Kilmainham Jail (1916 commission) and a solo exhibition “Beyond Silence A Bell Rings In An Empty Sky” in the Crawford Municipal Gallery in August 2017 plus the publication of a book by the same name by Farpoint Recordings.

A  solo CD has  been released “The Rauschenberg Scores” plus a new CD by The Quiet Club “No Meat No Bone”. Recent work includes “The Threshold Of Quiet” an installation commissioned for the National Concert Hall by New Music Dublin His piece “Scribbledehobble” (video and sound) was presented  as part of Kaleidoscope in MOLI (Museum Of Literature Ireland) in August 2020. A new work “KWAIDAN” Commission for Salon Bruit Rerouted (live radio) Berlin Germany also in 2020.
A sound installation “Lockdown Tape No.9 “ from the series The Telepathic Lockdown Tapes was presented in installation form by Lismore Castle Arts in 2020. The Telepathic Lockdown Tapes on the Takuroku Label have been release by Café Oto in London and has been followed by a cassette tape release (with download) on Farpoint Recordings where many of his books. CDs and vinyl releases are to be found. His work “Found Sound (Lost At Sea 11.1.11)” has recently been purchased for the National Collection. Recent installations include “Chamber Music (One Hundred Urinations For James Joyce)” in Unit 44 (Kirkos) Dublin and “Sounding The Town// Change Climate Change” Midleton Arts Festival.
